I find myself drooling over these magnificent, dark rooms in magazines and on Pinterest. But I am sort of intimidated to do it. My own house is all bright white (White Dove to be specific). So, with the exception of my Teal Pool Bathroom, there's nowhere to do it.
And, since we've been flipping homes, I've tried to stay on the safe side, design-wise, wanting to make choices that are interesting, but appeal to a larger audience.
But things are changing!
At Weaver Drive, we have this amazing room with custom Mahogany paneling. And, while we love it, and don't want to rip it out, it has a bit too much of a older Japanese vibe. So, while it may seem counter-intuitive, we've decided to paint it DARK!
Here's our Man Cave before it becomes a Man Cave
I am inspired by dark, handsome offices, otherwise known as Man Caves. What you don't see in this photo is the left wall which has floor-to-ceiling bookcases, also solid Mahogany. These bookshelves are screaming to be filled with fabulous books and objects found from various international travel excursions. Also imagine a fabulous desk, a cowhide rug, maybe a taxidermy antelope (i know, not PC
This was my inspiration
While I love that dark, warm gray, I have been obsessed with Navy Blue and amazed by the huge assortment, ranging from Navy-Gray-ish to Navy-Teal-ish.
So, for our Man Cave, I'm looking for a handsome Navy with gray undertones. And in my quest to find the perfect Navy, I've come across some amazing things I'd like to share with you.
